If you use a Dante PCIe card instead of DVS you should see a modest improvement in latency and your reliability should be rock-solid, but there's a significant cost to those units, and you're still relying on a general-purpose computer to process your plugins. Be aware that there are also some reliability concerns about DVS for show-critical applications. If you use Dante Virtual Soundcard (which is far an away the most common option, because it's quite inexpensive) you'll see latency go up (I seem to recall that the minimum roundtrip latency on DVS is 10ms, but it may only be 5ms either way it's still probably more than you're getting with a well-optimised USB setup). To do this, you'd need some way to get Dante audio into and out of the computer that MultiRack is running on. If you put a Dante card in your console you have two possibilities: The first is that you can continue to run MultiRack in Native mode. As you've discovered, with some tinkering this will work okay (better for things like reverbs which tend to have some delay built into them anyway, not as good for real-time plugins like compressors, but if it works for you then great). Your current setup using USB is using MultiRack in Native mode. In SoundGrid mode typically no audio at all passes through the computer is running MultiRack since the SoundGrid server is handling it all this allows for much lower latencies (round-trip times of less than 1 ms) and greater stability (since you aren't relying on a general-purpose computer to do show-critical work).

In Native mode, all the plugin audio has to flow through the computer that is running MultiRack so you're relying on its stability to run your show. In Native mode, MultiRack does the actual plugin processing. In SoundGrid mode, MultiRack is just a controller for one or more SoundGrid servers on a SoundGrid network. It always feels like the solution is through a waves server, maybe that's the only solution but, I'd like to hear anyone else experience with Dante on the x/m series consoles. I've done some research online and have found most answers to be vague and not existent for Dante, especially with Multirack. Do you use a stage box(DL or S series) to get signal situated at either FoH or Monitor world and then broadcast through the Dante?

I'm aware of the Soundgrid servers and most of the waves based solutions.
